Guess the secret row of colours, read the feedback pegs, and tighten your deductions until you crack the code.

How to play

The computer hides a secret sequence of coloured pegs. Each turn you submit a full guess and receive feedback: a black peg for every peg that is the right colour in the right spot, and a white peg for every peg that is the right colour in the wrong spot. The feedback pegs are unordered, so a black peg does not tell you which slot it refers to. Use the clues to deduce the code before your guesses run out.

• Black peg = correct colour and correct position
• White peg = correct colour, wrong position
• Feedback is unordered — it counts matches but never reveals which slot
• Crack the code within the allowed number of guesses to win

Controls

• Desktop: click a palette colour to drop it into the next slot, click a placed peg to remove it, then Submit; number keys place colours, Backspace undoes, Enter submits
• Phone & tablet: tap a palette colour to place it, tap a placed peg to clear it, then tap Submit guess

Game modes

• Three difficulties — Easy, Medium, and Hard — that change peg count, colour count, and guesses
• Daily challenge shared by everyone that day, or unlimited Practice rounds
• Toggle whether the secret code may repeat colours

Tips & strategy

• Open with guesses that test several distinct colours so you learn which ones are in the code
• Track the totals: the sum of black and white pegs tells you how many of your colours belong, regardless of place
• Change just one peg between guesses to isolate exactly what that change is worth
