Tâb

A traditional North-African race-and-capture game driven by tossed casting sticks across a boustrophedon board.

How to play

The board is a 4-by-7 grid traversed in a back-and-forth (boustrophedon) path. You play the blue side against the computer or a friend. Cast the four sticks for a number, then move one of your highlighted pieces — capturing enemies you land on exactly and running pieces off the far end to bank them.

Origins

Tab is a running-fight game of North Africa and the Middle East, played for generations on a long board of several rows with throwing-sticks for dice. Quick, noisy and sociable, it belongs to the same broad family of race-and-capture games that has been played across the region for centuries.
