Story Spine
A story has been cut apart and shuffled — rebuild its arc and name every beat.
How to play
You are handed the scenes of a short story out of order. Arrange them into the sequence the plot demands, then tag each scene with its place on the narrative arc — exposition, rising action, climax, falling action and resolution.
- Reorder the scrambled scenes into a coherent story
- Label each scene with its stage of the dramatic arc
- Use cause and effect to decide what must come before what
- Get the order and the labels right to complete the spine
Controls
- Desktop: click to select and arrange scenes and to assign each label
- Phone & tablet: tap scenes to move them and tap to apply labels
Game modes
- Daily: a single seeded story shared by everyone, ranked globally
- Practice: new stories each round with Easy, Medium and Hard settings
Tips & strategy
- Find the opening that sets the scene and the ending that resolves it first — they anchor the middle
- The climax is the turning point of highest tension; everything before builds toward it
- Cause-and-effect words like 'because' and 'so' reveal which scene triggers the next
