Scopa
The beloved Italian fishing card game — capture cards by matching or adding to them, sweep the whole table for a scopa, and out-point your opponent.
How to play
Scopa is played with a 40-card Italian deck across four suits. Four cards sit face-up on the table. On your turn you play one card from your hand to capture: a card that matches a single table card by value must take that card, otherwise it can capture any group of cards that sums to its value.
Captured cards go to your pile. If your capture clears the entire table, that's a scopa — a bonus point. When the deck runs out, both hands are scored and the next deal continues until someone wins.
- Score one point each for taking the most cards, the most coins, and the seven of coins (the settebello).
- Score one point for the primiera (best 'prime' across the suits) and one for every scopa you swept.
- First player to reach 11 points wins the match.
Controls
- Desktop: click a card in your hand to play it; if it can capture more than one way, pick the combination you want.
- Phone & tablet: tap a card, then tap a capture option if prompted — no keyboard needed.
- When only one capture exists, it happens automatically.
Game modes
- Daily — the same shuffle for everyone each day.
- New Game — a fresh random match against the computer.
- Online — a live one-on-one match against a real person.
Tips & strategy
- Guard the seven of coins and the sevens generally — they swing both the settebello and the primiera.
- Avoid leaving cards that let your opponent clear the table for a scopa, especially totals near a low value.
- Grabbing the most cards is a quiet but reliable point — don't pass up easy captures chasing flashier ones.
