How to play

First set a qualifying time, then race. Steer through the curves of a scrolling circuit seen from behind your car, shifting gears for speed and weaving past rivals before the lap timer expires.

• Qualify, then race the circuit against the field
• Steer smoothly through curves to hold your line
• Shift between low and high gear for acceleration and top speed
• Pass cars and reach checkpoints before time runs out

• Desktop: arrows or A / D to steer, Up / Down to throttle and brake, Shift or Space to change gear

Origins

Grand Circuit harks back to the behind-the-car racer of 1982 — qualify in time trials, then weave through traffic on a winding circuit, shifting between low and high gear and beating the checkpoint clock. It set the template for the third-person driving game.
