How to play
The penguin cannot push anything. You walk cell by cell, and your two tools are the floor itself and a flick: launching the ice block directly ahead of you so it slides away on its own. Where it stops is decided entirely by the floor it crosses, which is the part you control.
Every floor cell is either frozen or thawed. You toggle the one you are facing.
A block crossing a frozen cell keeps sliding; the moment it enters a thawed cell it grips and stops there.
Blocks bank off the outer wall, so a shot can be reflected around the rink rather than thrown straight.
A sliding block destroys every enemy it passes through, chaining along a whole line of them.
You can never shove a block by walking into it — flicking is the only way to move one.

Desktop: Arrow keys or WASD to walk and aim, Space to flick the ice block ahead of you.
Phone & tablet: tap to move and act, touch input is supported.
Tips & strategy
Thaw a cell to build a wall you can aim at. A thawed square is where the block will stop, so laying one down in advance turns a wild slide into a placed shot.
Freeze a long lane before you flick. The further a block travels, the more enemies it can chain through, and frozen floor is what keeps it moving.
Learn the bank. Reflecting off the outer wall reaches enemies that no straight line covers, and it is usually the only answer to something in a corner.
Set the floor up before the enemies arrive. Toggling cells takes turns you will not have once something is chasing you.
Watch where your own block will stop. A block that grips in a doorway is a wall you built against yourself.
Origins
Floe is a nod to Pengo, released by Sega in 1982, in which a penguin clears a field of ice blocks occupied by Sno-Bees.
You defeat them by pushing a block so it slides the length of the field and crushes one against a wall, which requires lining up a shot several squares ahead while the target moves. If nothing is in the way the block simply slides off and is gone, so a miss costs you a piece of the board. You can also stun the whole field by charging a wall from the right side. The three diamond blocks, lined up, are the big bonus and the reason players tolerate a much longer level.
