Win tricks to bank card points: aces are worth eleven, threes ten, and the court cards count down from there. While the deck still has cards you may play freely; once it empties you must follow suit, trump when void, and beat when able. Reach sixty points to take the hand.
Tute is Spanish by adoption rather than birth. It began in Italy as tutti, crossed to Spain during the 19th century, and became one of the most popular card games in the country — at which point Spanish speakers reshaped the name into the one it carries now.
It belongs to the ace-ten family, where a card's rank ignores the number printed on it: the ace is highest and worth most, and the three comes second, above the king, worth 10 points to the king's 4.
