Stack Chef

Ingredients sit on a lattice of platforms and ladders. Walk all the way across a bun, patty, or topping and it drops to the layer below, stacking up into a finished burger at the bottom. Roaming food enemies chase you the whole time, squash them by dropping ingredients on them, or spray pepper to freeze them in place.

• Tread across every segment of an ingredient to send it falling.
• Drop an ingredient onto a chasing enemy to knock it down with the food for a bonus.
• Build all the burgers on the stage to clear it.

• Desktop: Arrow keys or WASD to walk and climb, Space to spray pepper.
• Phone & tablet: on-screen movement and pepper buttons make it playable by touch.

• Lure enemies onto an ingredient before you drop it for a multi-segment chain fall.
• Ration your pepper, save it for moments when you're cornered on a ladder.
• Plan a route that drops ingredients in sequence so you're never doubling back into a foe.

Stack Chef draws on BurgerTime, released by Data East in 1982, in which a chef assembles enormous burgers by walking across the ingredients so they fall a level at a time.

The maze of ladders and platforms is really a sequencing puzzle: an ingredient drops only as far as the next obstruction, so the order you tread them in decides how many trips you make. Pursuers can be stunned briefly with pepper, of which there is never enough, or ridden down on a falling ingredient — which is both the best way to deal with them and a good way to be trapped on the bottom bun with nowhere left to walk.
