How to play
A falling-sand sandbox built around burial. Pour powders into the grid and watch them settle into layered strata. Grains that stay buried and undisturbed long enough fossilize into permanent stone, the satisfying core hook. In Daily mode a light goal (fossilize a zone, reach a depth) gives you a target; the Sandbox is pure free play.
Select a material, sand, silt, ash, water or erase, and pour it into the canvas.
Powders cascade and pile; water flows and pools around them.
Buried grains that settle long enough compact into stone, which is permanent and can't be overwritten.
In Daily, complete the scenario's goal (fossil zone or depth line) to finish the run.
Controls
Desktop: click and drag to pour; keys 1–5 pick a material; [ and ] resize the brush; Space pauses the simulation.
Phone & tablet: drag across the canvas to pour, and tap the palette and buttons to switch tools.
Tips & strategy
Pile grains deep over a target area, only well-buried, undisturbed material fossilizes.
Pause the simulation to place precise strokes, then let it run to watch them settle.
Use water to shift and pack powders, but keep the fossil zone calm so stone can form.
About Sediment
Sediment is an original falling-sand sandbox that turns the genre's drifting powders into geology, rewarding patient burial as grains petrify into lasting rock. Play it free in the browser on PlayPendium with goal-driven daily runs and an open sandbox.
