Gravity Klondike

Klondike's rules still decide what may legally stack — tableau builds down in alternating colours, foundations build up by suit, only a King fills an empty column. What changes is what you are allowed to pick up. You can lift a legal run starting at any face-up card, even one buried under other cards, and the column then collapses into the gap.

• A run must be internally legal and must legally land where you are sending it.
• The cards sitting on top of the run you extract do not block it — they settle down into the space afterwards.
• That means a card stranded in the middle of a column is reachable in a way plain Klondike never allows.
• Foundations and empty columns behave exactly as they always have.
• Every move returns a fresh position, so undo is unlimited.

• Look at the middle of columns, not just the ends. The whole point of this variant is that the exposed card is no longer the only card you can play.
• Extracting from the middle changes what is underneath. Gravity settles the column afterwards, so plan the position you are creating rather than only the move you are making.
• It is easier than Klondike, so play greedier. Runs you would never break up in the standard game are recoverable here.
• Empty columns are still the scarce resource, and a King is still the only thing that fills one.
• Use undo freely to explore. The engine never mutates a position, so backing out costs you nothing.

What it adds is a physical law the parent game does not have. Pull a run out of the middle of a column and the cards above do not stay suspended; they fall in to fill the gap. The layout is no longer a stack of independent piles but something with weight.

That single change rewrites the tactics. In ordinary Klondike, buried cards stay buried until you excavate them in order. Here a well-chosen extraction collapses the column and can expose three useful cards at once — or bury the one you needed.
