This is two games in one: first you build a pinball table by drafting parts and placing them on the playfield, rotating and rearranging until you like the layout. Then you play it, launch the ball, work the flippers to keep it alive, and bounce it around your own bumpers and targets to score. Test, tweak, and replay the same table for a better run.
Pinball tables have been designed by other people for a century; you drop a coin and play what you are given.
The original idea is to hand over the design first. You draft and place the parts, then drop the ball onto what you built.
That turns the game into two games with opposite virtues. A table stuffed with scoring targets is not necessarily a table where the ball survives, so the design phase is really a bet about your own play — and the ball is the thing that settles it.
