Slant
Fill every square with a single diagonal so each numbered dot touches exactly that many lines — and no loop ever closes.
How to play
Slant is a logic puzzle played on a grid bordered by a lattice of dots. Every cell must hold one diagonal line, either a backslash or a forward slash. Some dots carry a number telling you exactly how many of the diagonals touching that dot must point at it. Satisfy every numbered clue, fill all cells, and make sure no diagonals ever form a closed loop.
- Each cell gets exactly one of the two diagonals — none can be left blank in a finished grid.
- A numbered dot must be touched by precisely that many diagonal ends; a green dot is satisfied, a red dot is over its clue.
- No loop may form anywhere in the grid; a closed cycle is highlighted in red.
- The puzzle is solved when every cell is filled, all clues are green, and there are zero loops.
Game modes
- Sizes: 5x5 for a quick solve, 8x8 for a meatier grid, or 10x10 for a real challenge.
- Daily: one shared puzzle per size each day. Practice: endless fresh boards.
Controls
- Desktop: left-click a cell to cycle backslash, forward slash, then empty; right-click drops a forward slash directly.
- Phone & tablet: tap a cell to cycle through the two diagonals and back to empty.
Tips & strategy
- Start with the forced clues — a 0 dot turns every diagonal away from it, and a corner 1 or 2 pins its cell immediately.
- Treat loop avoidance as a constraint: if a diagonal would close a small cycle, the other orientation is forced.
- Work outward from edges and high or low numbers where choices are most restricted.
- Use the live colour feedback to spot a dot that has already gone over its clue and backtrack early.
