Your plane stays centered while the whole sky spins around you in a free-flying dogfight.

How to play
Your plane never leaves the middle of the screen. Steering rotates it, and the entire sky wheels around you in response — so you are always flying and never arriving anywhere, with the world scrolling past in whatever direction you are not facing. Enemies appear from beyond the edges and converge on you from every side.
You rotate; the world moves. There is no screen edge to back into and no corner to hide in.
Enemies spawn outside the visible area, so threats arrive from directions you cannot yet see.
Anything that drifts far enough away is removed, so running is a real option — it just gives up the kills.
Parachutists drift through the field and can be rescued for extra points.
Downing enough enemies advances you, so the game will not end simply because you are surviving.
Controls
Desktop: arrows or WASD to steer, Space to fire

Tips & strategy
Turn constantly. Because the sky rotates around you, holding one heading means everything you are not looking at is closing in unopposed.
Use the despawn. Anything you fly away from long enough is gone, which makes a bad situation survivable at the cost of the points in it.
Rescuing parachutists means flying toward something helpless and slow while the fight continues, so take them early in a wave rather than late.
Keep the quota in mind. Circling safely forever does not advance you, and the enemies do not stop arriving while you do it.
Rotate before you need to, not after. Turning is the only defence you have, and it takes time you will not have once something is already on you.
Origins
Sky Wheel revisits Time Pilot, released by Konami in 1982, which solved the problem of a fixed screen by refusing to move the player at all.
Your plane stays exactly in the centre and the entire sky rotates around it, so you are always flying and never arriving — an elegant trick that makes the field feel unbounded. Each era, from 1910 biplanes forward through helicopters to 2001, ends only when you have downed a quota and the mothership appears. Falling parachutists can be rescued for points, which puts a reason to fly toward danger into a game that otherwise lets you circle safely forever.
