Seven Seas Sort

A blank water map hides the world's oceans and seas. Identify each unnamed body of water, then arrange them into a valid circulation loop so the global current flows.

• Type the name of each highlighted ocean or sea
• Order the waters into a correct circulation chain (gyre)
• A valid loop confirms your sort; an invalid one tells you to keep going
• Difficulty sets how many waters appear in the puzzle

• Daily puzzle, the same waters for everyone that day
• Practice, a fresh seed every puzzle

• Desktop: type names into the prompt and drag tiles to reorder the loop
• Phone & tablet: tap to type and drag tiles with a finger

• Nail the named-sea step first, sorting is easier when every tile is labelled
• Think geographically: adjacent waters usually neighbour in the loop too

Identifying unnamed bodies of water and then arranging them into a working loop is the thermohaline circulation — the global conveyor driven by density differences from temperature and salinity.

Requiring a valid loop rather than correct labels is the original demand.

That is the part school maps leave out. The oceans are not separate basins but one connected system in which water sinks at high latitudes, travels for centuries and surfaces elsewhere, so naming them without connecting them misses what they actually are.
