Halma
A race across the board where the long jump chains win it — leap your pieces over any others to land your whole camp in enemy territory first.
How to play
Each side has a camp of ten pieces in one corner. The goal is to be first to move every one of your pieces into the opposite corner — your opponent's camp. A piece may step to an adjacent empty square, or jump over any single neighboring piece (yours or theirs) into the empty square beyond.
Jumps can chain: from a landing square you may jump again, hopping clear across the board in a single turn. There are no captures — pieces you jump stay put.
- Move one step in any of the eight directions, or jump an adjacent piece into the empty space behind it.
- Chain multiple jumps in one turn to cover huge distances.
- Nothing is captured — it's a pure race to relocate your camp.
- First player to fill the far camp with all ten pieces wins.
Controls
- Desktop: click one of your pieces to select it; legal destinations appear as dots — click a dot to move or land a jump chain.
- Phone & tablet: tap a piece, then tap a highlighted dot — fully touch-driven, no keyboard needed.
Game modes
- Vs Computer — choose Easy, Medium, or Hard; stronger levels build longer jump ladders.
- 2-Player — pass-and-play on one device.
- Online — create an invite, join with a code, or quick-match a live opponent.
Tips & strategy
- Build 'ladders' — line up pieces as stepping stones so a trailing piece can chain several jumps at once.
- Move your back pieces early; the ones deepest in your camp have the farthest to travel.
- Don't leave a piece behind — a single straggler can cost you the game even when the rest have arrived.
- Watch your opponent's ladders; sometimes the best move blocks a square they need to land on.
