Two artworks, one era, one forgery: choose the genuine piece and learn the anachronistic tells — a pigment or technique that didn't exist yet gives the fake away.
How to play
Each round shows two works catalogued to the same period. One is authentic; the other uses a material, pigment, or perspective technique that hadn't been invented yet. Click the genuine one.
- Compare the two pieces against the era's date range.
- Click the work you believe is real; a correct call scores, and either way the tells are revealed.
- Study the highlighted anachronisms — the attributes that betray the forgery.
- Play through the set of rounds, authenticating as many as you can.
Controls
- Desktop: click a work to choose it, then Next; click Daily/Practice and New floor.
- Phone & tablet: tap a work and the buttons — fully touch-enabled.
Tips & strategy
- Anchor on the era's end date — any pigment or method that postdates it marks the fake.
- Perspective and material both carry tells, not just colour; scan all three categories before committing.
