Reflex Run

You run automatically down a multi-lane track. Each gate poses a math fact with a different answer in each lane, swerve into the lane holding the right one. Correct answers speed the track up for a bigger challenge; a miss loops the fact back around so you can try again.

• Read each gate's problem and pick the correct lane in time.
• Right answers accelerate the track and raise your score.
• Misses send the fact around again as practice.
• Keep going as long as you can, it is an endless sprint.

• Solve the fact as the gate appears, not when it is on top of you, the faster track punishes hesitation.
• Commit to a lane early and hold it rather than weaving between two.

Swerving into the lane holding the right answer is mental calculation under time pressure — recall of number facts rather than working them out.

The original loop is that a miss sends the same fact back around rather than penalising you and moving on.

That is the correct response to a gap in recall. Speeding up on success and repeating on failure makes the track adaptive, so the pace converges on the edge of what you actually know instead of a difficulty somebody guessed in advance.
