Orbit Sling
One burn, the moons' gravity, and a target far away — make the fuel last.
How to play
Aim a burn from your spacecraft, then let gravity fly it. Bend your path with slingshots off the moving moons to reach the target orbit while spending as little fuel as possible.
- Drag from the craft to aim a burn — longer drag means more delta-v (fuel)
- Release and Launch to hand control to gravity
- Use the moons' pull to curve your trajectory and gain free speed
- Reach the target orbit; reset and re-plan if you miss
Game modes
- Easy, Normal or Hard difficulty
- Daily course or Practice for fresh setups
Controls
- Desktop: press near the craft and drag to aim the burn, release, then click Launch
- Phone & tablet: drag from the craft with a finger, lift off, and tap Launch
Tips & strategy
- Time your pass so a moon's gravity is pulling you the way you want to go
- A small, well-aimed burn plus a slingshot beats a big, fuel-hungry one
- Plan the whole arc before launching — re-planning is free, wasted fuel isn't
What you'll learn
Orbit Sling teaches orbital navigation and gravity assists, balancing fuel against the pull of gravity to reach a destination.
- Skills: orbital mechanics, gravity, gravity assists, energy and fuel budgeting
- Best for: roughly grades 8–12 (ages 13+)
- For parents & teachers: introduces real space-flight ideas through play.
