How to play
You run a market stall where customers state prices in spoken-style number-words, including the tricky compound forms. Parse the number, then count out the correct change onto the tray and hand it over. Get the value right to serve the customer; misread a compound and the change won't add up.

Origins
Parsing spoken-style number-words, including compound forms, and counting out change is where numeral systems get awkward in practice.
Using spoken forms rather than digits is the original difficulty.
Number words are irregular in ways digits hide. French counts in twenties above sixty, German says the units before the tens, and several languages have distinct forms for counting things versus stating prices — so hearing a price is a different skill from reading one.
