Kakuro

A crossword built from arithmetic — fill every run so its digits are all different and add up to exactly the clue.

How to play

Each across and down run has a clue: the total its cells must add to. Fill the white cells with digits 1 to 9 so every run hits its sum and no digit repeats within a single run. Logic alone — no guessing required — solves a well-formed grid.

• Fill each run with digits 1–9 that sum to its clue
• Never repeat a digit inside the same run
• Use overlapping across/down runs to pin values down
• Complete every run to solve the grid

Controls

• Desktop: click a cell and type a digit, or use the on-screen number pad
• Phone & tablet: tap a cell, then tap a number on the pad

• Difficulty: easy, medium and hard grids

Tips & strategy

• Start with short runs that have only one digit combination, like 3 in two cells
• Use the intersection of an across and down run to fix a single cell
• Pencil through which digit sets a run allows before committing
