Slash Escape

A crossword made of regular expressions: fill each cell so every row and column satisfies its own pattern clue.

How to play

Each row and each column carries a regex clue. Drop letters from a small alphabet into the grid so every line matches its pattern. A live matcher recolors each clue as you type — green when the line matches, amber while it is still satisfiable, red when no completion can work.

• Click a cell, then type or tap a letter from the alphabet pad
• Selected row and column clues are shown in the clue bar
• Solve faster and with fewer hints for a higher score

Controls

• Desktop: click a cell and press a letter key, Backspace to clear, arrow keys to move; or use the on-screen pad
• Phone & tablet: tap a cell, then tap letters on the pad

Game modes

• Difficulty: Easy, Medium or Hard grids
• Daily for a shared seed, Practice for fresh puzzles

Tips & strategy

• Start with the most restrictive clues — a fixed letter or anchor pins cells the looser lines must agree with
• Use the amber/red coloring to back out of a letter the moment a crossing line turns unsatisfiable
