There is a right way to assemble a body, and the game will not tell you what it is. It doesn't have to. The scoring, the decoys, and the glowing red warnings quietly teach the strategy to anyone who pays attention.
Every system has exactly one organ that depends on nothing, the heart, the diaphragm, the mouth, the sensory receptors. Place that root first and it comes alive immediately; it has no unmet needs to glow red about. Then place whatever depends only on the root, and it too lights the moment it lands. Work outward along the chain and you never once see a broken organ. Each tile you drop is functional at the instant of placement.
Play in the other direction and the board turns into a field of red. Drop the veins first and they glow broken, needing capillaries; add capillaries and now two organs are broken, both waiting on arteries; and so on until the heart finally arrives and the whole line snaps to alive in one satisfying cascade. Both orders finish the same puzzle. Only one of them ever lies to you about your progress, and the game has quietly told you which, by choosing to draw the red at all.
The tray never holds only the organs you need. Alongside a system's four true organs, the game slips in two decoys borrowed from other systems, a stomach loose in the respiratory tray, a brain adrift among the digestive parts. They exist for one reason: to make placement a genuine choice rather than a process of elimination down to a single option.2
The engine's rule protects you from actually installing them. A decoy's correct slot lives in a different system, so it can match no slot on the current board; try to drop one and the socket rejects it outright. But that rejection is not free, it counts as a misplacement against your score. The decoys can never fool the board. They are there to fool you, in the half-second before you remember that a heart has no business in a nervous system.2
The game counts a misplace whenever a drop is refused, and a drop is refused in exactly two cases: you tried to install a decoy that belongs to another system, or you put a real organ in the wrong slot (the trachea into the gas-chamber slot, say). A correct organ in its correct slot is the only accepted move. Everything else is a rejection with a price. Body Kit's final score is a single formula: start from a ceiling of 8,000, subtract five points for every second you take, subtract a hundred points for every misplacement, and never let the result fall below a floor of 200. Written out, that is max(200, 8000 − time×5 − misplaces×100).1
Read the two penalties against each other and a clean exchange rate falls out. A misplacement docks 100 points; a second of clock docks 5. So one wrong drop is worth exactly twenty seconds of thinking. That is the game's whole risk calculus in a single number. It is almost always correct to pause, read the slot label, and be sure, because being sure rarely costs twenty seconds, and being wrong always does. Speed matters, but precision is priced higher, and the formula says so out loud.1

The design choice that shapes all of this is that Body Kit refuses to hide failure. A wrong slot is rejected on the spot with a flash. A correct-but-unsupported organ doesn't fail silently at the end, it glows red now and prints the name of what it is missing: needs Diaphragm. The board is a live diagram of consequences, updated on every single drop.1
It would have been easier to build the opposite. Accept any placement, keep the tally private, and reveal a pass-or-fail verdict only when the last tile lands. That version is playable, but it teaches nothing along the way, a mistake made in the second move stays invisible until the end, disconnected from the action that caused it. By surfacing the break at the moment it happens, next to the organ that caused it, Body Kit ties every error to its cause while the cause is still fresh in your hand.
A game can hide your mistakes and grade you at the end, or show them the instant you make them. Only the second kind ever teaches you anything.
Put the four choices together, a root-first optimum, decoys that demand attention, a score that prices care above haste, and failures rendered visibly and immediately, and a teaching machine emerges that never once lectures. Nobody tells you the lungs need the diaphragm. You learn it because a lung you placed alone glowed red and said so, and because the run that respected the dependency scored higher than the one that fought it. The rule enters through your fingers, not a tutorial.2
This is the quiet ambition behind the whole design. The dependency chains are, as the source notes, "intentionally pedagogically meaningful": circulation needs a closed loop, the lungs need their muscle, digestion proceeds stage by stage.2 A player optimising purely for score, building from the root, dodging decoys, refusing careless drops, is, without ever being asked to, rehearsing the actual architecture of the human body. The best way to win turns out to be the same thing as understanding how a body is put together. That alignment, between the winning move and the true fact, is the whole game.
